James Miller, originally from Winter Haven, Florida, and raised on Long Island, New York, started playing tennis at age 6. His early talent was honed at Robbie Wagner’s, leading to competitive play by age 10. James excelled in the USTA ranks, eventually training at Nick Bollettieri’s IMG Academies in Florida, where he ranked in the top 10 for USTA Boys 14s and 16s. He achieved national rankings within the top 25 for Boys 14s and top 50 for Boys 16s, and later reached a top 150 national ranking in the 18s.
James’s career included competing in ITFs and a resurgence in competitive play in his late twenties, highlighted by a finals appearance at the Men’s National Open and participation in his first Futures Pro Circuit event in New York in 2017. Now committed to coaching, he has led junior programs in Connecticut and Colorado, preparing young athletes for USTA and ITF tournaments.
